Stylist to the stars keen to create her own home

Known variously as "the fairy godmother of makeover magic" and "Hollywood stylist to the stars," Zoe (rhymes with "show") refers to herself as "a fashion doctor, on call 24/7."

Now she is ready to use her magic wand on the dream house she is planning. Zoe and her husband, entrepreneur Rodger Berman, want to build after they sell the home they own in the Hollywood Hills above Sunset Boulevard. The asking price is close to $3 million.

The 2,742 -square-foot Midcentury house has two bedrooms and a convertible den, three bathrooms, walnut floors, walls of glass, an open living room, a family room, two fireplaces, a master-bedroom suite, a pool, a spa and a fire pit. The house, built in 1956 and updated, sits on a promontory overlooking the city. The landscaping "creates a sanctuary of privacy," according to marketing materials.

Zoe is author of "Style A to Zoe: The Art of Fashion, Beauty & Everything Glamour." Her clients have included Nicole Richie, Kate Hudson, Anne Hathaway and Demi Moore. She reportedly commands a hefty $6,000 a day to prepare a starlet for the red carpet.

She has appeared on "Project Runway" and "The Simple Life.".

Jerry Rice, the wide receiver who joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1985, and his wife, Jackie, have listed their Atherton estate at $22 million.

The Chronicle reported on Wednesday that the two are divorcing.

The three-story home took three years to build. It was completed five years ago.

The house has six bedroom suites in 15,000 square feet, a library, an office, a family room with a full bar, a wine room, a crafts room, a full gym with a bathroom, a home theater, a game room and an underground seven-car garage.

The 1.4 acres of grounds are set behind gates with a pool, spa, covered veranda with built-in heaters and speakers, a stone outdoor fireplace and a guesthouse. There are lawns, a pond and towering trees.

The 45-year-old former football star won three Super Bowl rings as a 49er. Regarded as the most prolific pass receiver in pro football history, when he retired in 2005 after 20 seasons he held numerous NFL records for touchdowns, receptions, receiving yards and consecutive games with a catch, among others.

The house, which is "California French" in style, is on the market for the first time and will be shown by appointment to qualified buyers. Pierre Buljan of Cashin Co. has the listing.

Fed Maintains Rates

In the most recent meeting of the Federal Reserve the decision was madeto hold interest rates steady. Wrapping up a two day meeting Fed Chariman Ben Bernanke announced that the central bank would hold rates at 5.25 percent, the same as June. The decision amoung all board members was unanimous.

Interest Rate ReviewThe Fed’s decision meanst that commercial bank’s prime interest rates - for certain credit cards, home-equity lines of credit and other loans - would remain unchanged at 8.25%.

Before the Fed’s interest-rate pause, borrowers had endured two years of continuous rate increases. Looking at economic conditions, Fed officials cited readings on “core”inflation, which exludes energy and food prices, as haven gotten “modestly” better than recent months. In noting this improvment, they abandoned language in prevousl statements that described underlying inflation as potentially “somewhat elevated”.

Pemaquid Point Preservation

Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, which was built in 1835, is one of the nation’s most recognizable and beloved coastal beacons, and is the only lighthouse ever to be featured on Federal currency (Maine state quarter).

The lighthouse is owned by the United States Coast Guard and licensed to the American Lighthouse Foundation who is responsible for the historic tower’s preservation.

The American Lighthouse Foundation (ALF), a nonprofit lighthouse preservation organization headquartered in Rockland, Maine, is presently undertaking a $106,000 exterior restoration of this historic lighthouse, located within the Town of Bristol, Maine.

Thanks in part to a generous $50,000 grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Lowe’s Charitable and Educational Foundation; ALF and its local chapter, Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (FPPL), will complete full restoration of the exterior of the lighthouse by late-summer 2007.
